Mary Owusu is an entrepreneur and educator. She began her career in 2002 as a Search Marketer and took on progressively increasing roles before becoming SVP, Digital Strategy and Analytics at a full-service marketing agency where she oversaw a multi-disciplinary digital team spread across Charlotte, Atlanta, Syracuse, and New York City. There, she originated her widely adopted “Marketing Success Plan” which is used by marketers across the globe to create measurement plans that translate clicks and impressions into real business value.
In 2020, Mary left her corporate job to found her own business – GuruBound – and live out her calling to transform lives through teaching. She now works directly with businesses on their digital marketing and analytics strategy, and also teaches entrepreneurs, marketers and corporations how to do digital marketing effectively themselves. Highlights of her past and present client list include Ford, Mattel, and Siemens. Mary is also a highly-ranked full-time Professor of Marketing at Canisius College where she has taught digital marketing to undergraduate and MBA-level students since 2012. Many of her students are now working in the digital marketing field, giving back to their communities with an expertise that’s in high demand.
Alongside executives from Google and Adobe, Mary is a director on the Digital Analytics Association (DAA) board, working to create programs and initiatives that advance the digital analytics field globally. She is a sought-after keynote speaker on a myriad of marketing and analytics topics, a 2019 recipient of the 4 under 40 Emerging Leaders award from the American Marketing Association, and the 2019 recipient of the Difference Maker Award from the DAA for her commitment to advancing women and her community.
