Bio:
Joe Miscavige is the Director of Data Analytics & Insights at the Smithsonian Institution. He joins the
Institution’s new Office of Digital Transformation, which works to advance the overall mission of the
organization using data and technology to drive innovation across the world’s largest museum, education,
and research complex.
Prior to joining the Smithsonian, Joe led large scale business intelligence and data literacy initiatives at
PBS, managed cross-network digital platform analysis for AMC Networks, worked as an archivist at New
York’s Hunter College, and taught English in Osaka, Japan.
Joe also teaches a Master’s-level Digital Analytics and Measurement course at Georgetown University and
had previously served on the executive board of the Digital Analytics Association. In 2018, he received the
Association’s Practitioner of the Year award. Joe holds a Master of Science in Library & Information
Science from Long Island University and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Susquehanna
University. He is currently attempting to learn how to play tennis which is counter balanced by the giant
stack of books that he wishes he could get to.
